Cosign guidelines

Cosigns are only valuable if people can trust them. These guidelines keep it that way.

Write cosigns that help

  • Be specific. Name a project, a decision, a moment. Explain the outcome.
  • Say how you know them. Co-founder, manager, investor, customer — context helps readers weigh your words.
  • Pick what they’re known for. Choose up to three strengths you’ve seen first-hand.
  • Cosign early. The most valuable cosigns back people before everyone else does.

Not allowed

  • Cosigning yourself, trading cosigns, or paying or being paid for them.
  • Endorsing someone you have no first-hand knowledge of, or misrepresenting your relationship.
  • Negative reviews, harassment, discrimination, or sharing private or confidential information.
  • Spam, promotion unrelated to the person or company, or impersonating anyone.
  • Fake profiles or companies, or profiles created to mislead.

Signals and lists

Signals are private expressions of interest — use them sincerely. Lists should be built around a clear, honest theme. Community rankings are for nominations you genuinely believe in.
