Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Silicon MENA (“we”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, email address and a securely hashed password, plus anything you share when applying to join.
  • Profile information: what you add to your profile, such as headline, location, bio, links, expertise and photo. Profiles are public.
  • Contributions: cosigns, lists, votes, company pages, updates and job posts. These are public and attributed to you, except votes, which are shown only as totals.
  • Private signals: visible only to you and the person you signal.
  • Profiles created by others: members may add a profile for someone who hasn’t joined yet, using professional information such as name, headline and public profile links.
  • Technical data: IP address and browser information used for security, rate limiting and preventing abuse.

Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies: one to keep you signed in, one to remember your light or dark theme, and a short-lived one to show confirmation messages. We don’t use advertising cookies.

How we use information

  • To operate the network: show profiles, cosigns, lists, rankings, updates and jobs.
  • To review membership applications and keep the community safe.
  • To send in-app notifications about activity that involves you.
  • To respond to your requests and support questions.

We don’t sell personal information.

Service providers

Silicon MENA is hosted on Cloudflare. Company logos may be loaded from Google’s public favicon service, which means Google receives standard request information such as your IP address when those images load.

Your choices

  • Edit your profile and contributions at any time.
  • Delete your account from Settings; your cosigns, lists and signals are removed.
  • Ask us to correct or remove a profile about you, or request a copy of your data, via the contact form.

Retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the service, comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.

Changes

We may update this policy and will post the new version here with a revised date.
